Our new foster pup Rayne!

Rayne is an American Bulldog mix. He is a great pup. A little about him is he is two years old, Friendly, and loving pup. I am really happy we can help him out. A special shout out to Rejoyceful Animal Rescue for taking in Boss to help him get adopted out. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have the room nor the time to take on another sick dog.

We aren’t too sure of his health condition at the moment. He is a little beat up, a little under Weight, and some dry skin and dandruff that even head and shoulders wouldn’t want any part of. A bath and applying some coconut oil every day. It seems to be doing the trick with his skin. Even making his coat shine again. We are feeding him twice a day. We use Merricks. It is a little more expensive but I want to see results. I know with people they say abs are made in the kitchen. In my experience, the same holds true with dogs.

Back when Rayne was at the River Rouge Animal Shelter he had a heartworm test done. His results were positive. I just took him to the vet Monday to get his heartworm treatment rolling. They took a blood sample and gave him x-rays to see if he had heartworm but both showed he was negative for heartworm. They are sending a blood sample to the lab to make sure. We are crossing our fingers that the test in the shelter is just a false positive because Heartworm is a very costly and painful procedure That I hope he can avoid.

I have had Rayne for 3 days now. We are slowly getting to know each other and his new daily routine. He hasn’t shown any signs of aggression. He is a little fearful and startles easy. That is understandable with him being in a new environment. This one is a lover, not a fighter. He hasn’t shown any resource guarding. I was able to play with him. Take his bone and throw it. He couldn’t have cared less. Now off to the lover part. He is unfixed and it shows. When he gets excited he turns into a porn star. I mean any excitement too. He was playing with his bone by himself and started it. How I am correcting this behavior till he gets fixed is clapping really loud to get his attention and giving him a command like sit. As soon as we find out he is heartworm free or when he finishes his treatment he is getting fixed right away because he is acting like a 14-year-old boy. His quality of life will improve greatly. I would like to thank everyone for reading and hope you all have a great day. Keep your eyes open because next week we are going to start socializing him with the cats. I can’t wait to tell you about it.
