About Pawtastic Animal Care
Hello everyone my name is Keith and I am an army veteran that served with distinction and honor. I just also happen to be an animal lover. I have grown up around animals and owned all sorts of pets in my adult life from pit bulls to dachshunds, cats of all sorts and even an indoor rabbit.
With me having a soft spot for these furry critters and the critters that are not so furry I knew this was the career for me. My journey started with the aspca a few years ago. I wasn’t really satisfied I wanted to do something more mission driven. When I found the River Rouge animal shelter I knew this was the place for me. That here I could really make a difference. Some of the dogs come in in real rough shape. They need a lot of love, nourishment, and happiness. It is a lot of hard work and dedication, but it is so rewarding to see the sparkle and joy come back into there lives.
After volunteering for a while I started fostering. My biggest accomplishment was Anna. Anna was a pit bull who fell victim to animal cruelty and neglect. When she arrived at the shelter she was malnourished, had behavior problems, and aggression issues. Anna was an older dog that was stuck in her ways. I worked with her daily on her resource guarding issues with positive reinforcement and treat training. I formed a healthy high protein diet with a regimented exercise program for her to help her gain weight and look healthy again. All that with a whole lotta love. Today Anna lives in a great home. Anna and her owner couldn’t be happier.
I have worked with friends and family over the years to help them out of jams when it has come to pet care such as watching my aunt and uncles Pomeranian and Cockatoo when they went on vacation, to walking my sisters two pit bulls during her pregnancy. I have even dealt with the little more exotic like feed and loading in the trailer for travel camels, miniature horses, goats, and more when I traveled with a carnival for a year.
I would like to thank you all for taking the time to learn a little bit about me and my love for animals. I hope you enjoyed this little snapshot of myself. I look forward to meeting you and your little beast.
